STUDY TOUR TO MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) as the chair of the Permanent Committee on ASEAN Inter-Regional Relations (IRR), after due consultation with other members of the ASEAN Banking Association, selected Melbourne, Australia as the venue for the 2013 study tour.
 
Twenty one delegates comprising senior bankers from Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia participated in the two day study tour. The primary purpose of the study tour was to build and foster inter-regional relations and close cooperation with Australian banks, industry associations and members of the banking and wider financial services. The study tour also serves as a platform or avenue to promote better communication and sharing of information between ASEAN banks and the financial services sectors in Australia.
 
During the study tour, the delegation met with the following banks and related financial services organizations to discuss the topics set out below:

The feedback for the study tour from the participants was positive and encouraging as it had benefitted them with both the knowledge and insight to the changes and innovations in the financial services industry in Australia.  
 
Much appreciation goes out to various parties who made this study tour possible and a success, namely the delegates for their active participation and camaraderie, and to our gracious Australian hosts for their warm hospitality and engaging sessions.
