On 29 April 2011, the Myanmar Institute of Banking (MIB) held a graduation ceremony for graduates of a one-year full time Postgraduate Diploma in Banking. The ceremony for the third batch of fifty eight diploma holders from Yangon and thirty four diploma holders from Mandalay, was held in Yangon.
An extended two years part-time diploma program has been launched since November 2009 to facilitate bank staff wishing to study after office hours. Presently, twenty nine students are in the second year and sixty five students are in the first year.
The Diploma in Banking course, launched since 2007, is part of the joint training programme between the Myanmar Institute of Banking and the Yangon Institute Economics.
This was an initiative by the Myanmar Banks Association which was endorsed by the ASEAN Bankers Association’s Permanent Committee on Banking Education.
